The Goliath Bird eater is the king of the tarantulas, being the heaviest spider in the world. The have a heavy arsenal at their disposal with 1/2 long fangs and urticating hairs which they will flick at the slightest disturbance. Their hairs are so irritating that gloves should be worn when cleaning their cages. Goliaths will not hesitate to strike so great care should be taken when doing anything in their enclosure. They are avid burrowers and aggressive feeders on crickets, roaches and pinky mice. This is one species that should be reserved for advanced keepers only.
