Grammostola alticeps

Pampas Tawney Red

Temperment: docile
Habitat: terrestrial/ burrowing, savannah
Care: beginning keepers

One of my favorite spiders, the Brazilian Grey Smoke has an understated beauty and a great temperment. This spider was sold as a G. pulchripes back in 1995 but looking at photos she really looks more like an alticeps. They are quite active and will constantly dig and move around anything you place in their cage. They are much less common than other spiders in the Grammostola genus and may be hard to find. Unfortunately she passed away on May 6, 2006. I purchased her as a full grown adult so she was at least 6-8 years old at that time, which would make her at least 17-19 years old when she died.
