Aphonopelma texensis
Temperment: nervous
Habitat: terrestrial/burrowing, arid/scrubland
Care: intermediate keepers
A small North American tarantula, the Texas Tan is quite attractive. They are slow growing, so if you buy a spiderling expect it to be several years before they reach adult size. They tend to be jumpy and nervous but are not outwardly aggressive. They are aggressive feeders on crickets and do not seem to go through seasonal fasting like some other species.
