|
|
My Cramer, his neck is alot better with prednisone 20mg...it will be rest of his life with prednisone to keep him comfort with neck, he had stage II disc disease on his neck but with prednison it make him comfort alot and happy. One question I had ask since I havent find any info on google. Cramer had peed while sleep on bed with me...is it serious health issue or it is normal? it was yellow marked on blanket. I am just worry since I wanted him and his health doing better...he will turn 7 years old on July 8th.
Thank you for reading and looking forward to have some help from yall for Cramer :-) |

Oh I'm happy to read that Cramer is doing well.
A side effect of prednisone is thirst so you may notice Cramer drinking more. Dribbling in his sleep could be a result of increased water intake. That would be my first guess.
I have read about male dogs becoming incontinent due to age but he's not really that old. However, it doesn't mean it can't happen. There is medication to treat that as well.
I would watch him. If it's not a common occurrence then it may fix itself once he's fully adjusted to the prednisone.

I would suggest cutting off his water intake early in the evening. It won't hurt him and may help. _________________ Cicero's mom

| 1/4 teaspoon of dried catnip on top of the food is supposed to help with the gas. |

I have heard the same about the prednisone.
Yogurt didn't help with Percy either, we just let him fart and open the windows periodically (Maybe it's nerves/stress with Cramer?) _________________ Elli

Cramer had still having a major gas like 3 to 4 time a day for last 2 weeks....plain youget dont help, anti-gas pills for dogs dont help either...I havent get catnip yet. Anyway, I start to realize it that Cramer wont going outside for pee/poop time. He just being lazy on couch and let his stomach fill it up FULL, that might cause him having a major gas. He will beg me to let him go outside when his stomach is really FULL. How can I make him to go outside when I say so....my other greyhound David he is very good listen to me he will go outside to do his business as I told him to go outside but not Cramer. I tried to make him get off couch, he will growl at me and even I cant pull his collar due to his neck can be easy hurt for him. I know he is soon turn 7 years old on July 8th...I am trying to make him just be like David when I say go outside for their business time.
Other thing I want to add...dog food. I switch dog food from Pro Plan Chicken & Rice....Cramer have a very rarely to have gas when he eat Pro Plan Chicken & Rice. The reason I switch to new dog food due to budget tight up. I went to Costco to get Kirkland chicken & rice which is very much almost same as Pro Plan Chicken & Rice is....David had no problem with it same as for Cramer...he had no problem to eat it but it cause him having a major gas for last 2 weeks. It is really coming from kirkland chicken & rice or what?
Thank you so much for reading and I am trying do everything to make here happy and comfort.

Same with my dogs... I tried the Chicken and Rice and they were fine. I think it comes down to the dog. Just like people, their tummies are just different and you have to do what is right for your dog... _________________ Traci and her crew

Maybe he's not taking too good to the prednisone? Maybe the vet can switch him onto something comparable? Maybe he has a thyroid problem? My sister's dog just got diagnosed with a thyroid problem, one of his symptoms was sluggishness. _________________ Elli
